‘Jolly LLB 3’ Review – A Courtroom Drama Filled with Humor, Satire, and a Strong Message

After much delay and controversy, ‘Jolly LLB 3’ has finally hit the theatres. The first two installments had built a solid fan base, and naturally, expectations this time were sky-high. Despite a few flaws, the film succeeds in making the audience laugh, chuckle, and also reflect. The key difference is that this time, the courtroom drama shifts its focus from judicial loopholes to the struggles of our farmers — the nation’s true food providers.

Storyline

Jagdishwar Mishra a.k.a. Jolly (Akshay Kumar) has now moved from Kanpur to practice law in Delhi courts. Meanwhile, Jagdish Tyagi a.k.a. Jolly (Arshad Warsi) from Meerut is also trying to make a mark in the capital. Their rivalry to grab cases intensifies so much that it even leads to physical clashes.

Amidst this, a farmer and poet from Rajasthan’s Parsaul village loses his ancestral land to the ambitious project of industrialist Haribhai Khetan (Gajraj Rao) and, out of desperation, commits suicide. His widow, Janki Rajaram Solanki (Seema Biswas), approaches the court. This case becomes the battleground for the two Jollys.

The matter lands in the courtroom of Justice Sundarlal Tripathi (Saurabh Shukla). What begins here is not just a legal battle but a larger conflict between farmers and industrialists — a fight that directly impacts the lives and survival of farmers.

Direction

Subhash Kapoor retains the essence of the Jolly LLB series in this third installment. The first 15–20 minutes are slightly slow, but once the story gains momentum, the film picks up pace. With farmers’ land acquisition and farmer suicides at its core, the film does carry emotional weight, but the director balances it smartly with humor and satire.

Some scenes may feel over-the-top — like a district magistrate testifying from a hospital bed or camels racing alongside cars. However, the disclaimer at the start justifies such cinematic liberties. The film’s message is clear and powerful:
“My land, my choice” — no development is justified at the cost of snatching farmers’ land.

Performances

  • Akshay Kumar shines with his comic timing and playful charm.

  • Arshad Warsi fits perfectly into his Jolly persona, and their rivalry becomes the film’s most entertaining aspect.

  • Saurabh Shukla as Justice Tripathi once again proves to be the backbone of the film. His humor and romantic track with Shilpa Shukla add delightful flavor.

  • Gajraj Rao impresses as the menacing antagonist, while Ram Kapoor brings his own swag and steals scenes.

  • Seema Biswas, with minimal dialogue, delivers a powerful impact, especially in the courtroom scenes that touch the heart.

  • Huma Qureshi and Amrita Rao appear in brief roles but leave a strong impression.

Why to Watch?

Even if you aren’t a fan of the Jolly LLB series, this film still works with its humor, satire, and a socially relevant message centered on farmers’ struggles.

Final Verdict

‘Jolly LLB 3’ is an all-in-one entertainment package — blending humor, satire, emotions, and a strong social message. Despite being slightly long and dramatic in parts, it leaves the audience with both laughter and thought-provoking moments.

Rating: 3.5/5
